Adam Rikkers, Chapter 11, Question #5

I was interested in many parts of chapter 11, but one of the more interesting parts was at the very end. It gave a very simple summary of how countries can get richer together. The passage compared baseball to the world's economy. Baseball is a zero-sum game, and only one team can win the world series, there can't be two teams that go home with the trophy. But in the economy, countries can get richer off of each other. Companies within the countries can compete, and still get more money. Another point made was that "the goal of global economic policy should be to make it easier for nations to cooperate" with each other (269). The more we cooperate, and the more efficiently we cooperate, the more secure and richer all countries will be.
